honestly i don’t care if you love or hate lapis but seeing most of the fandom take a collective shit on her because of how she acts as a result of her abuse makes abuse survivors who relate to her feel like shit.

it’s so easy to demonize her so quickly and turn her into the abuser which is fucked up because im always afraid of people making me out to be like my abusers, and my Single Worst Fear is turning into them. seeing people who aren’t survivors turn a character so clearly coded as an abuse victim into the abuser literally makes me ill. and it hurts so much.

i don’t know. im tired. just have some fucking respect for abuse victims i guess.

A big thing that’s troubling about this is that Lapis did what every non-survivor expects and says abuse survivors should do to our abusers. She fought back, she did to Jasper what Jasper did to her. We’re told to do that. That’s the first thing people ask “why didn’t you fight back?” Lapis fought back and what do fans who aren’t abuse survivors say?
